For the things woman carry that were never fully named
Unthread™
For the things women carry that were never fully named.
You don't have to be struggling to want to understand yourself more deeply.
Sometimes there comes a point when you become curious about the things you carry.
The beliefs you've inherited. The roles you've taken on. The expectations you've learned to live by. The experiences that have shaped you. The parts of yourself you may have lost connection with along the way.
Perhaps you're asking:
Who am I now?
What parts of myself have I lost along the way?
What am I ready to understand differently?
What do I want to carry forward?
You may not be looking for counselling.
You may simply want somewhere to pause, reflect and explore.
That is where Unthread™ begins.
What is Unthread™?
Unthread™ is a reflective experience for women who are curious about their stories, beliefs, relationships, identity and the things they carry.
It offers space to explore the experiences that have shaped you and consider what you want to understand, acknowledge or carry forward.
Through conversation, creativity, symbolic exercises and gentle reflection, Unthread™ creates opportunities to look at your story from a different perspective.
You don't need to have all the answers.
You don't need to be creative.
You don't need to know exactly what you're looking for.
You simply need to be curious about yourself
Unthread™ is guided by Jackie Connaughton, a BACP registered counsellor with more than 25 years' experience in trauma-informed practice.

Unthread™ is rooted in The Story Beneath™, the philosophy behind my work.
The Story Beneath begins with a simple question:
We are all influenced by our experiences, relationships, family, culture, expectations and the roles we learn to take on. Some of those influences are obvious. Others can remain beneath the surface for years.
Through Unthread™, you are invited to become curious about those stories, not to judge them, change the past or find someone to blame, but to understand yourself more fully. Because when we understand where something comes from, we can sometimes see ourselves differently.
And when we see ourselves differently, new possibilities can emerge.
Unthread™ will be offered through a range of reflective experiences, creating different ways to pause, explore and reconnect with yourself.
A gentle space for women to come together, pause and reflect.
Through shared conversation, creativity and guided reflection, these circles explore the experiences we carry, the stories that have shaped us and the wisdom we gather through connection with others.
A space to listen. A space to share. A space to simply be.
Women's Circles — coming soon
Each workshop invites deeper exploration of a different aspect of your story.
Exploring the experiences, beliefs and roles that have shaped us.
Colour, Threads & Lineage
A creative exploration of the stories, strengths and influences passed through generations.
No creative experience is needed.
This isn't about creating something perfect.
It's about creating space to listen, reflect and understand.
Future Unthread™ retreats will offer a deeper pause away from everyday responsibilities.
A space to reconnect with yourself through reflection, creativity, gentle practices and shared experience.
These will be invitations to slow down, explore and consider what you want to carry forward.

Who is Unthread™ for?
Unthread™ may be for you if you find yourself wondering:
"Who am I now?"
"What parts of myself have I lost along the way?"
"What am I ready to understand differently?"
"What do I want to carry forward?"
It may be particularly meaningful during times of transition, when life is changing, old identities no longer fit, or you feel drawn towards a deeper understanding of yourself.
You might be navigating a change in relationships, family life, work, identity or the stage of life you're entering.
Or perhaps nothing is particularly wrong.
You are simply ready to become more curious about yourself.
Is Unthread™ counselling?
No.
Unthread™ and counselling are connected through The Story Beneath™ philosophy, but they are different experiences.
Counselling provides therapeutic support for emotional difficulties, trauma, grief, anxiety, relationship difficulties and the impact of difficult life experiences.
Unthread™ is a reflective experience for women who want to explore their stories, beliefs, experiences, identity and the things they carry.
It is not therapy and does not replace counselling.
If you are experiencing significant emotional distress or need therapeutic support, counselling may be the more appropriate place to begin.
If you are looking for space to pause, reflect, explore and become more deeply connected to yourself, Unthread™ may be the place for you.

Unthread™
For the things women carry that were never fully named.
A space to pause. A space to explore. A space to listen to the story beneath.
What are you ready to understand differently?
Three movements,
One continuous thread
I
Before you
What arrived before you had language for it. The patterns, silences, and emotional inheritances that shaped the family you came into. Not to assign blame, but to begin to see clearly what you were given to work with.
II
Here and now
How those inherited patterns show up in your life today. In your relationships, your responses, your recurring struggles, and your recurring strengths. Seeing the thread from then to now, without collapsing the distance between them.
III
What you want to pass on
The question that changes everything. Not what was handed to you, but what you choose to carry forward. What you are ready to put down. What you want the next generation to inherit from you, in whatever form that takes.
I don't believe in breaking cycles. I believe in shifting threads, with awarness, courage and compassion

The Threads of Self Framework
The Seven Threads of Self is the framework at the heart of Unthread. Each thread represents a dimension of who you are: where it came from, how it lives in you now, and what you might want to do with it going forward.
In each Gathering, we work with one thread. Not to fix it. To understand it.

The Framework
Seven threads. One self.
In each Gathering, we work with one thread. Not to fix it. To understand it.
Ancestral Courage (Cultural)
What strength do I inherit? What courage lives in me?
The courage that arrived before you had words for it. What your ancestors survived, adapted to, built from. Not a romanticised lineage, but an honest one. What was strong in those who came before you, and how that strength, sometimes quietly, sometimes unmistakably, lives on in you.
Emotional Clarity (Cognitive)
Which emotions guide me? Which old responses can I let go?
How emotion was learned in your family. What was welcomed, what was managed, what moved silently beneath the surface. This thread invites you to look at what you feel and why, and to begin to distinguish between the emotions that are genuinely yours and the responses that were simply the ones available to you.
Creativity & Choice (Cognitive / Somatic)
What new possibilities am I ready to step into?
What becomes possible when you are no longer simply responding. This thread is about agency, the kind that does not announce itself loudly but arrives quietly, when enough has been understood. The new direction that was always there, waiting for the right conditions.
Somatic Safety (Somatic)
Where in my body do I feel safe, grounded, and supported?
What your body has learned to hold, and where it has learned to brace. Safety is not only a thought, it is a felt sense, a place in the body. This thread invites you to find where that lives in you, and to begin to trust it.
Belonging & Heritage (Relational / Cultural)
What parts of my lineage do I carry proudly?
Where you have felt at home, and where you have not. The communities, places, and histories that have shaped your sense of who you are. This thread does not ask you to claim everything. It asks you to look clearly, and to choose what you are proud to carry.
Connection & Relationships (Relational)
How do I want to show up in my relationships?
The patterns that move through your closest relationships, how you give, how you receive, where you close down, where you open. This thread is not about what has gone wrong. It is about who you want to be in the presence of the people who matter to you.
Legacy & Release (Cognitive / Cultural)
What can I gently let go of, and what future thread am I ready to weave?
The thread that belongs entirely to you. Not what was handed down, but what you are deciding. What you are ready to put down. What you want to pass forward, to the next generation, in whatever form that takes.
