Unthread is a creative, reflective experience for women curious about the influences that have shaped their lives, and what they want to do with them.
I don't believe in breaking cycles. I believe in shifting threads.
Not everything we carry needs to be left behind. Some patterns hold wisdom, strength and connection. Others may have made sense once but no longer fit who we are or how we want to live.
Unthread offers a different way to look at these threads: with curiosity about where they came from, appreciation for what they have meant, and freedom to decide what happens next.
Colour & Lineage
A creative afternoon exploring the stories that connect us
Colour & Lineage is the first Unthread experience. Through colour, making and reflection, you'll have the opportunity to explore family influences, personal experiences and the connections between generations.There is no right answer to discover and no particular outcome you need to reach. The afternoon is yours to explore in your own way.

What happens during the afternoon?
Explore through colour
Use colour as a starting point for noticing connections, contrasts and themes in your own story.
Look across generations
Consider the stories, expectations and ways of relating that may have travelled through your family, alongside the experiences that are uniquely yours.
Make something personal
Turn part of your exploration into a story map, life tree, bracelet, drawing or written page. No artistic experience is needed.
Close in your own way
There will be an opportunity to share a word, colour or thought if you wish. You can also pass. Nothing needs to be explained or disclosed.
Is Unthread for you?
You might be at a point of change. You might be curious about a familiar pattern in your relationships, or interested in the women and experiences that came before you. Or you might simply welcome an afternoon that offers something different from the everyday.
You don't need to arrive with a particular question, be artistic or share personal details. Curiosity is enough.

No. Unthread is a creative, reflective experience rather than a counselling service. Who guides Unthread?
I'm Jackie Connaughton, a BACP-registered counsellor with more than 25 years' experience.
My work has given me a longstanding interest in how our experiences, relationships and family histories influence the people we become. Unthread grew from that interest, offering a creative way to explore these questions outside the counselling room.
What comes next?
Colour & Lineage is the first experience in development. I'm also exploring future Women's Circles and a deeper experience called The Threads We Carry.

Questions you might have
Will I have to talk about my family or personal life?
No. You choose what, if anything, you share. Passing is always an option.
Do I need to be artistic?
No. Making is a way to explore, not a test of creative ability.
Who will be there?
The experience is designed for a small group of women. Group size will be confirmed when the event details are announced.
What do I need to bring?
Nothing is needed at this stage. Materials will be included in the experience.
Can I come with a friend?
The intention is to welcome women who would like to attend together as well as those coming on their own. Booking arrangements will be confirmed with the event details.
How is Unthread different from counselling?
It is a shared creative experience, not individual therapy. You won't be expected to work through personal difficulties in front of a group.

Refund & Cancellation Policy (Unthread)
Intro & Threads Series:
• Cancellations 14+ days prior to the event: Full refund
• Cancellations 7–13 days prior: 50% refund
• Cancellations less than 7 days prior: No refund, but materials or future date may be offered at discretion
• Unthread™ experiences may be rescheduled in exceptional circumstances.
• This policy is specific to Unthread™ and separate from counselling services
